Vicar’s Message
Dear friends in Christ,
Greetings to you all in the most precious name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I would like to welcome you to our parish website and appreciate you for spending your valuable time to know more about ministry of St. Thomas Evangelical Church of India(STECI)Greater Houston Parish.
St. Thomas Evangelical Church of India (STECI) exits, for the Word of God and for the Testimony of Jesus Christ (Rev 1:9). We believe that the formation of the STECI was not a historical accident, rather it was divinely mandated to preserve the purity and commitment of the Church. The very purpose of the formation of the STECI was to guard the sound doctrine, to practice Holy living and to engage in the proclamation of the Gospel.
We as a Parish hold on to the cardinal principles of our church mentioned above. We consider 66 books in the Bible as inspired, inerrant, infallible and authoritative word of God for our faith and practice. Therefore, we believe that our life and practice need to be based completely on the Word of God.
We as a church desire each of the members to lead a holy life pleasing and acceptable to our Lord Jesus. Holiness means separated from the world and set apart for God. God has given us a rebirth experience through Jesus Christ who died for us on the cross of Calvary. We believe in the seriousness of sin and brokenness it brings in each person’s life if one is careless about sin. We are called to repent and reconcile to God to receive salvation and eternal life.
We as a church are committed to the proclamation of the Gospel and it is a divine commission given to us. We have the responsibility as a parish to take the Gospel to the unreached areas and make Jesus known to all.
This is my Prayer that we all may know Jesus personally as our Lord and do everything in this world with an eternal perspective.
May God bless you,
In Christ’s Service,
Rev. Dr. Jobi Mathew
